I was looking for a hard-copy machine learning text, and I came across this one at Kinokuniya, a big bookstore here in Tokyo. Looks promising, though it came at a hefty price - $80 US. Fortunately, I have a bunch of gift certificates for most bookstores in Japan. Hands-On Machine Learning With Scikit-Learn and TensorFlow

I don't know why I didn't do this years ago. It was frustrating, but a supremely rewarding experience. And now I have a beast of a machine compared to what I've used previously. Need to work on cable management, though. Parts Used CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x Motherboard: msi MPG X570 Gaming Plus SSD: Samsung Evo 970 Plus 500GB GPU: ASRock Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 580 Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GB Total Cost: ~$1200 US Living in Japan, parts are a little more expensive here, so had I built the same machine in the US, it would have cost around $1000 US.

After being so busy at work doing web development, I've focused my efforts in that direction almost exclusively for the last year and a half. It's time to turn back to math and science. To that end, I'm doing a couple of stats and probability courses at edX to clear out the cobwebs and refresh my memory. I've forgotten how much I enjoy even the basic stuff.
